Liverpool Contact Chelsea Over Estevao Willian as Reds Test Brazilian’s Commitment

Written by admin

Liverpool have contacted the representatives of Chelsea winger Estevao Willian and are actively trying to persuade the 19-year-old not to sign an improved contract at Stamford Bridge, according to Football FanCast.

The Brazil international has struggled for regular starts under Xabi Alonso this season despite a solid debut campaign in England (eight goals and four assists in 36 appearances). He has started only once in Chelsea’s opening five competitive matches, and the club are now working on better terms to reward his development and underline his long-term importance.

Estevao is already tied down until 2033, giving Chelsea complete control. Fabrizio Romano has reported that the Blues have no intention of selling and remain relaxed about the situation. Their valuation sits in the €110–120m range (roughly £95–104m).

Liverpool have also sent scouts to watch the left-footed attacker, who is comfortable operating from the right and thrives in one-v-one situations. The move fits Andoni Iraola’s desire for a high-upside wide forward, an area where specialist options in the current squad are limited.

This is an ambitious approach. Chelsea do not need to sell, the player has nearly seven years left on his deal, and the club clearly see him as part of their future. Liverpool’s best chance lies in Estevao becoming frustrated by limited minutes before any new contract is finalised. By reaching out now, the Reds are ensuring he knows a major alternative exists if his role at Chelsea does not improve.

Whether that creates a genuine opening remains to be seen, but the early contact shows Liverpool are serious about testing Chelsea’s resolve.
