Liverpool Eye £40m Move for 23-Year-Old Premier League Goalkeeper

Written by Eddie Being

Liverpool are reportedly considering a move for Hull City goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis, with the highly-rated 23-year-old believed to be valued at around £40 million.

The Greek goalkeeper has reportedly caught the attention of several Premier League clubs following an impressive start to life in England. Tottenham have already been linked with the player, while Liverpool are now said to be monitoring his situation closely.

According to reports, Liverpool could view Tzolakis as a potential long-term successor to Alisson Becker, whose future at Anfield could become an increasingly important issue as he enters the later stages of his career.

Liverpool considering Alisson successor

Liverpool will eventually need to plan for life after Alisson, one of the most successful goalkeepers in the club’s recent history.

The Reds signed Giorgi Mamardashvili with the expectation that he could eventually challenge for the No. 1 position. However, his performances have reportedly raised questions over whether he can become Alisson’s permanent successor.

That could open the door for another goalkeeper to emerge as Liverpool’s preferred long-term option.

Tzolakis could be an attractive candidate.

At just 23, the Greek shot-stopper still has plenty of room to develop, while his experience in the Premier League would make him a relatively low-risk option compared with a goalkeeper arriving from another league.

Tottenham also interested

Liverpool may face competition from Tottenham, who have reportedly been monitoring Tzolakis after his impressive performances for Hull.

Hull are under no obvious pressure to sell their goalkeeper, meaning Liverpool or Tottenham may have to make a significant offer to convince the club to part with him.

A fee of around £40m has been suggested, although Hull could demand even more if interest from multiple Premier League clubs intensifies.

For Liverpool, the decision could ultimately come down to whether they believe Tzolakis has the potential to become Alisson’s long-term replacement.

With several top clubs reportedly watching the Greek international, the Reds may need to act quickly if they decide he is their man.

For now, the transfer remains at the reported-interest stage, but Tzolakis is certainly a goalkeeper worth keeping an eye on.
