Liverpool open club-to-club talks with Bournemouth for Rayan
Liverpool have held direct discussions with Bournemouth over a potential move for Rayan, the highly rated Brazilian forward who has impressed since arriving on the south coast in January.
The 19-year-old (full name Rayan Vitor SimplÃcio Rocha) joined the Cherries from Vasco da Gama for an initial £24.7 million and quickly adapted to the Premier League. In 15 appearances he has contributed five goals and two assists, showing the pace, skill and goal threat that marked him out as one of Brazil’s brightest young talents.
Much of Rayan’s early development at Bournemouth came under Andoni Iraola. The Spaniard left the club at the end of last season and has since been appointed Liverpool manager in place of Arne Slot. That prior relationship is understood to be a factor in the Reds’ interest.
According to reports circulating on X, the two clubs have now made formal contact. Bournemouth have made clear they have a firm valuation for the player and intend to stick to it. Previous claims have put a potential fee as high as £130 million — a figure that would represent an enormous profit on a player signed only months earlier. No release clause becomes active until January 2027, giving the Cherries a strong negotiating position.
Bournemouth have built a reputation for identifying and developing talent before selling on at a significant profit, as seen with players such as Antoine Semenyo, Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez. Rayan, along with the likes of Eli Junior Kroupi and Alex Scott, is widely viewed as a potential next high-value departure.
Any deal remains some way off and would require Liverpool to meet Bournemouth’s valuation. For now, the talks confirm that the Reds are actively exploring options to strengthen their attacking options under their new manager.
