Liverpool have made an enquiry for Crystal Palace winger Ismaila Sarr as they look to strengthen the right side of their attack before the summer transfer deadline.
The Reds have already agreed a deal for Bradley Barcola but still need cover and competition on the right flank, particularly with Mohamed Salah’s long-term future in mind. Interest in Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh has so far been rebuffed after multiple bids were rejected.
David Ornstein has confirmed that Liverpool have contacted Crystal Palace about Sarr, though no formal offer has been submitted. The situation remains live and will be shaped by Cody Gakpo’s decision over the coming days.
Gakpo has three realistic options: stay at Liverpool, move to Manchester City (whose interest is genuine), or join Tottenham, who have pursued him more publicly for some time. Ornstein noted the pros and cons of each path.
If Gakpo stays, Liverpool are expected to step back from signing another right-sided attacker, as they would already have four senior wingers. If he leaves, the club will push to complete a deal for that position — with Sarr and Minteh both under consideration.
Manager Andoni Iraola acknowledged the need for reinforcements in that area during his pre-match press conference:
“As you know, we are trying to sign in that position and also, as you know, we cannot talk about players that right now are not ours. But it’s evident that we are trying to improve or try to fill that position because we don’t have the numbers. I hope we can have good news soon but we are still not there.”
