Liverpool have suffered a significant injury setback ahead of their UEFA Champions League encounter against Fenerbahce, with midfielder Ryan Gravenberch ruled out of Wednesday’s trip to Istanbul.

The Dutch international is reportedly struggling with a heel injury and will not be included in the travelling squad for the important European fixture.

According to reports from Liverpool FC, Gravenberch will remain at the club’s AXA Training Centre, where he will receive treatment from the medical staff as he begins his recovery.

His absence is another concern for Liverpool, who will be without one of their key midfield options for a difficult away fixture in Turkey.

Liverpool Face Midfield Selection Challenge

Gravenberch’s injury could force Liverpool to make changes to their midfield lineup ahead of the Fenerbahce encounter.

The 24-year-old has become an important figure in the Reds’ midfield, offering physical strength, composure on the ball and the ability to drive forward during attacking moves.

With the midfielder unavailable, Liverpool manager Arne Slot may have to consider alternative options.

Youngster Trey Nyoni could be given another opportunity to impress, while Wataru Endo is also an option if Liverpool need additional experience and defensive stability in midfield.

When Will Gravenberch Return?

Liverpool have not yet confirmed the full extent of Gravenberch’s heel injury.

It also remains unclear whether the midfielder will recover in time for the club’s upcoming fixtures.

His recovery will depend on how he responds to treatment over the coming days, with Liverpool unlikely to take unnecessary risks with an important first-team player.

For now, the Reds will have to prepare for their Champions League trip without the Dutch midfielder.

Liverpool will hope Gravenberch makes a quick recovery as they look to maintain their momentum in Europe.
