Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique gave a frosty three-word response when asked about the futures of Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye after omitting both from his squad for Sunday’s Trophée des Champions clash with Lens.
PSG were beaten 1-0 by Lens at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis, missing the chance to claim a second trophy in five days following their UEFA Super Cup success earlier in the week.
Barcola, valued at around £145 million, and Mbaye, valued at approximately £40 million, watched from the stands amid strong interest from Liverpool. The Reds are keen to sign both wingers in separate deals this summer.
PSG have recently strengthened their forward line with the arrivals of Ferran Torres and Mika Godts, which has pushed Barcola and Mbaye further down the pecking order. Even though the two new signings were not ready to feature against Lens, neither Barcola nor Mbaye was included in the matchday squad.
When questioned about the decision in his post-match press conference, Enrique shut the conversation down abruptly.
“Thank you, goodbye,” the PSG boss replied before walking out of the media room.
The omissions will only fuel speculation over the pair’s futures as Liverpool continue their pursuit.
