Report: Beloved Liverpool FC star expected to leave the club this summer

Written by Iniobong Edet

Federico Chiesa is reportedly “almost certain” to leave Liverpool FC at the end of the season, bringing a quick end to his spell at Anfield.

According to Lewis Steele, the 28-year-old winger is expected to be part of a major squad overhaul as the club prepares for another transition phase. Despite arriving with big expectations, he has struggled to secure a regular starting role.

While players like Joe Gomez and Curtis Jones also face uncertain futures due to limited game time, Chiesa’s exit is seen as almost inevitable.

With two years left on his contract, Liverpool are likely to try and recover the £12 million spent on him.His possible departure comes amid continued changes at the club. Last summer saw key exits including Trent Alexander-Arnold, Luis Díaz, Darwin Núñez, and Harvey Elliott, alongside a massive £450 million rebuild.

Off the pitch, uncertainty also surrounds figures like head coach Arne Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes.

Meanwhile, key players such as Mohamed Salah, Ibrahima Konaté, and vice-captain Andy Robertson are either nearing the end of their contracts or linked with moves, suggesting another major shake-up could be coming.

Despite limited minutes, Chiesa remains a fan favourite thanks to his energy and commitment, with his chant still popular among supporters.

Interest in him is growing, particularly from Italy, with Inter Milan and Napoli reportedly leading the race, while a return to Juventus has also been mentioned.

Although his Premier League stint hasn’t fully lived up to expectations, his quality means Liverpool should have plenty of interested clubs as they look to reshape the squad this summer
