Fresh reports from Sky Sports on Thursday morning claim that Andoni Iraola would be keen on a move to Liverpool should the opportunity become available.
After leaving Bournemouth following a historic campaign that saw the club qualify for Europe for the first time, the 43-year-old has quickly emerged as one of the most sought-after managers ahead of the summer window. Recent reports linked him with AC Milan, while Liverpool’s hierarchy are also believed to admire the Spaniard, despite Arne Slot expected to remain in charge at Anfield after a hugely disappointing season.
Speaking live on Sky Sports News on Thursday morning, reporters provided a major update on Iraola’s future.
They explained that although talks with AC Milan had taken place, negotiations are currently not advancing. Crystal Palace were also mentioned as a possible destination, but it’s understood Iraola is not interested in leaving a Bournemouth side that finished sixth to join a Palace team that ended the season in 15th place, despite their recent Conference League success.
Sky Sports further reported that the clubs Iraola would be most interested in joining are Bayer Leverkusen and Liverpool. However, Liverpool currently have no managerial vacancy, with Slot set to stay on Merseyside.
For now, any immediate move involving Liverpool appears unlikely, but the update is still certain to spark discussion among Reds supporters. Iraola’s impressive work at Bournemouth — finishing just three points behind Liverpool with far fewer resources — has significantly enhanced his reputation across Europe.
