Liverpool have received encouraging news regarding Jeremie Frimpong, with the Dutch defender reportedly close to making a full recovery after spending three weeks on the sidelines.

According to the Daily Mail, Frimpong has made significant progress since suffering a muscle injury during Liverpool’s Premier League clash against Brentford on October 17.

The 25-year-old is understood to be almost fully fit and could potentially return to action this weekend. However, Liverpool are reportedly unwilling to rush him back, with the club considering waiting until after the upcoming international break before giving him the green light.

Frimpong’s Injury Record Raises Concerns

Since arriving at Anfield last summer, Frimpong has endured a difficult spell with injuries, having already missed close to 30 matches for Liverpool.

That represents a significant contrast with his time at Bayer Leverkusen, where he missed just seven games through injury across four seasons.

Liverpool will hope a more cautious approach to his recovery can help the defender avoid further setbacks and establish some consistency during the remainder of the campaign.

Uncertainty Over Frimpong’s Role Under Iraola

Frimpong’s return could also create an interesting selection dilemma for Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola.

The Dutch international faces competition for the right-back position following Ronald Araujo’s emergence as a key option in that role.

However, Frimpong’s attacking qualities could provide another option further forward, particularly given his pace, movement and ability to create problems for opposition defences.

Liverpool will be keen to have their full squad available as they look to recover from recent disappointing results.

For now, the priority will be ensuring Frimpong returns fully fit rather than risking another injury setback.
