Ferran Torres set for PSG medical in major Liverpool boost
Ferran Torres has been cleared to fly to Paris for his medical with PSG.
Fabrizio Romano reports that the Champions League holders have agreed a €50m (£42.7m) guaranteed fee for the Spanish winger. The deal, if completed, would theoretically edge Liverpool closer to a move for Bradley Barcola this summer.
At the very least, Torres’ arrival more or less guarantees that PSG would be fully stocked on the right flank — even if Anfield-linked teenager Ibrahim Mbaye were to leave. More importantly, it represents a significant step forward in Liverpool’s negotiations with the French champions.
Should PSG also add Ajax’s Mika Godts — as many in the industry expect — Luis Enrique would suddenly have a surplus of attacking options. Given the PSG coach’s reported firm stance on players who want to leave, the club’s position on Barcola’s £145m asking price could soften.
How much will it cost Liverpool to sign Bradley Barcola?
Romano has told CaughtOffside that even €120m (£102.5m) would not currently be enough for the two clubs to shake hands. A drop of more than £40m from the asking price is a big ask, especially if PSG want to protect their negotiating position.
A more realistic middle ground could sit around the £120m (€140m) mark. With Barcola’s contract running until 2028, his value is only likely to decline in the coming windows. Unless another club is prepared to meet the full asking price, this summer may be PSG’s best chance of securing a statement fee.
Torres’ imminent arrival does not guarantee anything for Liverpool. But it removes one layer of resistance and leaves the door slightly more open than it was 24 hours ago.
